Specifying custom power adapters: a buyer’s engineering checklist

USB-C adapter and coiled cable in a plain white retail box with insert

A checklist for buyers specifying a private-label power adapter. For project-specific figures, contact us with your requirements.

A private-label adapter is not only a logo on a housing. The device, the destination market and the packing rules decide the specification. Start there, then look at the power adapter range.

Key parameters to define upfront

  • Input voltage ranges & regional frequency limits
  • Regulated DC voltage, load currents & ripple tolerance
  • Barrel connector geometry, polarity & locking collar needs
  • Enclosure dimension limits, resin flammability & heat paths
  • Mandatory market certifications (CE / UKCA / FCC / UL)
  • Packaging architecture, user manual languages & barcoding

Where customization starts

If the change is a plug, cable, label or colour, that is usually product customization. If you are still deciding how the product should work, start with engineering instead of picking a catalogue SKU.

Bring this list when you request a quote. Incomplete specifications slow the sample stage more than a missing quantity.
